To me, BPEL is a con job pushed by software vendors that have invested too much in SOA roadmap. They have no better choice, but to keep on molding the architecture to “everything SOA-oriented”, even to the extend of service orchestration in BPM.
But, lately with acquisition of dedicated BPM product company, the scene gets better.</description>
